Y'all. Two weeks ago I attended the Blog Societies' Conference in Charleston, SC, and let me tell you...I WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. I learned all the things. ALL. THE. THINGS. And I met so many amazing women! So here is how it all went down...
Melinda, of
House of Style, was my partner in crime for the festivities so Thursday, upon our arrival, we got all glammed up for the first night of #tbscon. We actually went to high school together and have bonded since over our love for blogging. It was so nice having her by my side because I was SO NERVOUS. Like, too nervous, on that first night. I had no idea what to expect!
We were one of the first to arrive to the
Vera Bradley cocktail party in the Palmetto Room at the Belmond, but I didn't mind because I got some time to talk to people before it got too crowded.
75 bloggers were in attendance and we shut that place down!
The cutie to my left in the above pic's name is Brittany and she is the blogger behind
Lawyer Lookbook. Obviously we bonded over our knowledge of the law (b/c my hubs is a lawyer) and she is just so darn nice!
The next morning we started our day with a speakers at the
Riviera Theater. Thank the Lord Vera Bradley had given us
adorable umbrellas the night before or I would have looked like a wet dog.
The line up spoke of SEO tricks, tips on getting published on other platforms, tricks to taking the best pics and more. Next, we scarfed down a quick lunch and headed to a meet and great (or as I now call it, Blogger Christmas) with the brands that had sponsored the conference (listed below).
If you saw my snaps from the day of then you might have a slight idea how crazy it was. So many brands. So. Much. Swag.
I know I make it look easy but this stuff was heavy, lol.
Each brand had a booth set up with goodies and I, armed with business cards and media kits, walked up to each one to introduce myself. You don't have long to make an impression so you better believe I was also doing my best to get their card so I could reach out afterwards ;).
All the booths were so beautiful. Like this one by Loreal...they had a braiding station! So cute.
The Kendra Scott booth was also one of my favs but I may be bias because that girl on the right with the big smile and white dress on, she roomed with Melinda and I. Her name is Beka and I love her. She is so ambitious and come to find out, we're both Phi Mu's! #sisters #liob
After lugging, in the most loving way of course, all our stuff back to the house we were pooped. We went to dinner at Husk and spent a little time on the town (getting gelato). Smiling all day is def exhausting but I wouldn't have changed it for the world.
The next morning, we started our day with an 8am breakfast hosted by Kendra Scott. I am sure you know by now that this is not my plate. Lol. I stack my buffet plates much higher but this plate does belong to the fabulous
Kim Graham who photographed the enter weekend including all the pics in this post. Thanks Kim, you're a doll!
We then attended 3 workshops. My favorite was the Founders Workshop hosted by the Blog Society Founders themselves, Kathy of
Poor Little it Girl and Jessica of
My Style Vita. They taught us how to price our posts correctly, about contracts and mostly how to stand up for ourselves cause no matter what anyone tells you, blogging ain't easy (but it's worth it).
The conference ended with another beautiful meal surrounded by awesome people. I wish it had been days longer...it was so nice to be surrounded by people with the same aspirations as yourself *sigh*.
If you're a blogger, I am sure you are asking yourself, "how can I attend?!" That was def me last year. First, apply to be a member of
the Blog Societies, then when the time comes...sign up! I learned so much, I definitely hope to attend in 2017!
